New Doc Explores 85 Years of Impact At the Walnut Street YMCA

The YMCA of Delaware invites the community to attend the premiere of The Walnut Street Y: Passport to Possibilities, on Thursday, Febraury 19 from 5:30 - 7:15 PM at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.

This free event includes a cocktail reception, remarks from Dr. Nutter, and the premiere of the documentary. Passport to Possibilities is a short documentary by historian and author Dr. Jeanne Nutter. It chronicles the profound impact of the Walnut Street YMCA on Wilmington over the past 85 years, highlighting its role as a gateway to opportunity for generations of residents. 

Through powerful personal stories and rare archival footage, the documentary explores how the Walnut Street YMCA has helped shape leadership, education, wellness, and social connection—while playing a meaningful role in the city’s civil rights history and community life.
