Renting a bike to travel the Jack Markell Trail between the Wilmington Riverfront and Historic New Castle?
You can now borrow a helmet for your ride! We’ve just launched the Markell Trail Helmet Borrowing Program to add a level of safety to your outing.
Bicyclists have three locations to access this free of charge trail amenity: The Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau Visitor Center and the DuPont Environmental Education Center, both at the Riverfront, as well as the New Castle Court House Museum in Historic New Castle. You'll find a sign, separate from the bike rentals (see below), providing you with the borrowing info you need.
The helmets were purchased through a grant from the William Penn Foundation. To learn more about the program, location hours and how you can rent a helmet, visit: Markell Trail Helmet Loan Program
